Most of us have grown up with a western cultural view of what “Church” is. It is often closely associated with a building or campus that houses a group of people who have a shared experience in Christ. While we honor the role of the Legacy Church (or Institutional Church) in our lives, we must extend the conversation to include a rediscovered (yet ancient) stream of gathering.
The Home Church / Simple Church / House Church/ Organic Church
The new testament writers point to the home as a center of life and ministry. Much of Jesus’ ministry took place in the homes of those He loved and called. Some common points of these “Simple Church” gatherings include:
Shared meals
Everyone contributes in dialoge (1 Cor 14)
Personal ministry
Close relationships
Spirit led
Financial responsibility
Shared lives
